Michael Behforouz, MD

Michael A. Behforouz – is a comprehensive Ophthalmologist and has been in private practice for 13 years. He is certified through the American Board of Ophthalmology and completed his ophthalmology residency at the prestigious Emory Eye Center, in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael has had medical training as a transitional resident at St. Vincent Hospital, in Indianapolis, IN, and took an international rotation in ophthalmology, in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. He was educated at Indiana University School of Medicine and received honors and awards including:

  • Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society (1995)
  • AMA Academic Scholarship (1992-1993)
  • Dr. E.B. Rinker Memorial Academic Scholarship (1992-1993)

He also received his undergraduate education at Indiana University, in Bloomington, Indiana and received BS in Biology – Honors Division. Here he graduated with honors and awards, which include:

  • Graduation with Distinction
  • Dr. Arthur Metz Honors Division Scholarship (1988 – 1992)
  • Hoosier Scholar (1988 – 1990)
  • Intramural Sports Athlete of the Year (1992)
  • Pi Kappa Alpha Chapter Scholar and President (1991 – 1992)

Michael prides himself in providing eye care in a setting that promotes communication and compassion. A good patient rapport, combined with the skill and expertise of a physician who has always been in the top five percent of his class, ensure that his patients receive the highest quality eye care. Dr. Behforouz devotes a good deal of time to community programs such as vision screenings for children and glaucoma screenings for adults. He is a member of many medical organizations and participates in projects that provide access to medical care for the non-insured and underserved patients. He lives with his wife Maryjane Sweet Behforouz in Carmel.  They have two daughters, Kayla and Stella. He enjoys soccer, basketball, tennis, music and poetry.
